Your brain consists of billions of brain cells called neurons. Each neuron communicates with an electric wave. Electric waves released by neurons in the brain are called 'brain waves' or brainwaves.
So-called brainwaves are 'electric currents' that are released by the brain. If the brain no longer issues brain waves, then we know that the brain is dead. Brain waves can be measured with Electroencephalograph (EEG) equipment. It is known that the frequency of brain waves generated by neurons varies between 0-30 Hz and is classified into the delta, theta, alpha and beta waves.
Each wave has different characteristics and signifies a person's mental state. The following is a brief description of the characteristics of the four types of brainwaves that generally appear in everyone. Beta Wave: Beware, Concentration. Beta brain wave condition (13-30 Hz) keeps our mind sharp and focused. In Beta, your brain will easily analyze and organize information, establish connections, and generate new solutions and ideas.
Beta is very useful for work productivity, study for exams, presentation preparation, or other activities that require high concentration and alertness. Alpha Waves: Creativity, Relaxation, Visualization Alpha brainwaves (8-13 Hz) are in stark contrast to Beta. The relaxed conditions encourage the creative flow of energy and fresh, healthy feelings. Alpha brainwave conditions are ideal for reflection, problem-solving, and visualization, acting as a gateway to our creativity. Theta Waves:
Deep relaxation, Meditation, Memory Improvement Slower than Beta, Theta brainwave condition (4-8 Hz) arises when we dream on a light sleep. Or also often called as experiencing dreams consciously. The Theta frequency is associated with long-term stress relief and memory recall. The 'Twilight' state can be used for deeper meditation, resulting in improved overall health, need for sleep deprivation, increased creativity and learning. Delta Waves: Healing, Sleeping Extremely. Delta conditions (0.5-4 Hz), as brainwaves slow down, are often associated with deep sleep conditions. Some of the frequencies within this Delta range are accompanied by the release of human growth hormone (Human Growth Hormone), which is useful in healing.
Delta conditions, if generated in a wakeful state, will provide an opportunity to access the subconscious activity, pushing its flow to the conscious mind. Delta conditions are also often associated with humans who have a strong sense of empathy and intuition. The mistaken view that has been in the minds of many people is that the brain produces only one type of wave at a time. When we are actively thinking we are on the beta wave. If we relax we are in alpha. When we are daydreaming, we are in theta.
And, if we sleep soundly in the delta. The view is wrong. The results show that at one time, in general, our brain produces four types of waves simultaneously, but with different levels. For example in sleeping conditions, our brain produces more delta waves, but still produces theta, alpha and beta even though they are small.
Everyone has a unique and always consistent brain wave pattern. The uniqueness is seen in the composition of the wave type at a given moment. The composition of brain waves determines the level of one's consciousness. Meditation is one of the most ancient ways to regulate brainwave patterns. As for the busy modern society, Brain Wave Therapy is one of the favorite ways to set brain wave patterns to suit your needs. Actually, in addition to the 4 types of waves we mentioned above (Delta, Theta, Alpha and Beta) there are still higher brain waves:
Gamma with frequency 40-99 Hz, HyperGamma with 100 Hz precise frequency and Lambda wave with exact frequency 200 Hz. According to Dr. Jeffrey. D. Thompson, of the Center for Acoustic Research, the HyperGamma and Lambda waves are associated with supernatural, metaphysical or paranormal abilities.
While Gamma Waves occur when a person experiences a very high mental activity, such as being in the arena of a match, a championship race, appearing in public, very panicked, frightened, rushed by a deadline for work or other stressful situations for the person
