Be Serious About Education


It is almost a year Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Muhadjir Efendi replace Mendikbud Anies Baswedan. During the period under which Anies Mendikbud's programs continue and improve. 

Mention Smart Card Indonesia (KIP) is getting smoother and character education that has been started in the age of Anis Mendikbud developed. 

In fact, at the beginning of his tenure, Muhadjir attempted to solve Anies' efforts to handle the National Examination (UN) until it was completely abolished. 

Maybe, because Muhadjir's background is an expert in early childhood education, he saw the UN is not exactly implemented in Indonesia at this time. 

However, instead of supporting the idea of Mendikbud, the President of RI who in his campaign promise will stop the UN, instead annul the idea that has been brave to be delivered to the public so as to gain support from various community groups. 

Mendikbud believes his idea will be supported, because the Minister's job is to help the President implement what is promised. However, the fate of the President's aide, the assisted prerogative in the hand, the idea of the Minister of Education and Education disallowed by the Palace. 

Mendikbud ultimately focused on referring to the mandate of the President when appointed to replace Mendikbud Anies, such as focusing the work on KIP and Character Education program and from here came the idea of Full Day School (FDS). 

FDS is an idea that synergizes all the elements of educational practice that enable pupil characters to be educated within the framework of formal education itself. 

Schools that operate 5 (five) days a week and elsewhere 6 (six) days a week, formalized into 5 (five) days a week in a formal rule of Education Regulation on School Day. The formalization of this idea gained the President's approval in a limited meeting, so that Permendikbud was published.


Apparently, perhaps Mendikbud less appropriate to disseminate the idea to the public, especially to religious schools (Diniyah) which hours of study after formal schooling. In fact, not a few parties who criticize Mendikbud will destroy Madrasah Diniyah (Madin), especially from NU circles as the most widely held this type of education. 

So seriously, PBNU issued an official Letter of Rejection signed by the Chairman and Secretary General of PBNU. This is different from Jakarta Pilgub condition which looks somewhat broken. 

In this FDS affair NU solid refused. Although in some instances, Rois Aam NU, KH Makruf Amin as chairman of MUI supports FDS. 

Polemic FDS or Sekolah 5 (lima) Today culminates in the calling of KH Maruf Amin as Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). Mendikbud Muhadjir even faced the President and held a press conference stating that Permendikbud on Strengthening Character Education which contains the idea of School 5 (five) Days annulled the President. 

If in the case of the UN, an idea that has not been formally annulled, is now the formal authority of the Minister of Education and Education in the form of Permendikbud disallowed by the President and the announcement is delivered by KH Makruf Amin, not by the Education Minister as the authority owner. 

As a former educational practitioner and once in the environment of Kemdikbud, I am among those who disagree with the idea of the 5 (five) Days School formalized in the form of Candy. Because the facts on the ground all have occurred naturally. 

The ready-to-run areas for many years and those that have not been fixed for 6 (six) days a week, both continue to run the learning time limit set by the Education Minister for all levels of poverty. Madrasah diniyah also do not feel annoyed because it has put you naturally. 

If you intend to give more space to strengthen the character of the students, Kemdikbud should facilitate the practice already, for example by making a Joint Decree with the Ministry of Religious Affairs so that Madin and similar education will strengthen the character of the students. 

Kemdikbud also must encourage the Director General of Early Childhood Education (Dikmas) Kemdikbud to strengthen Dikmas program to sustain the school by considering the uniqueness of the region.
